HEART framework to evaluate the user experience of a yoga app. We’ll use specific numbers and calculations for each component of the framework:
Happiness:
To measure user satisfaction and happiness, we can conduct a survey with app users.
Let’s say we receive responses from 200 users, and they rate their satisfaction on a scale of 1 to 5. The average satisfaction rating we gather is 4.3 out of 5.
Engagement:
For engagement, we can track metrics such as the number of Task Success:
of sessions per user per week and the average session duration.
Suppose we find that users have an average of 3 sessions per week, and the average session duration is 30 minutes.
Adoption:
To calculate the adoption rate, we need to determine the number of new users and the total potential user base. Let’s assume the yoga app acquired 2,000 new users within a month, and the estimated total potential user base is 10,000. Using the adoption rate formula:
- Adoption Rate = (Number of New Users / Total Number of Potential Users) * 100
- Adoption Rate = (2,000 / 10,000) * 100 = 20%
- The adoption rate for the yoga app is 20%.
Retention:
We can measure retention by examining the number of active users at the beginning and end of a specific period. Suppose the app had 5,000 active users at the beginning of the month and retained 4,500 users by the end of the month. We can calculate the retention rate as follows:
- Retention Rate = (Number of Users at the End of the Period / Number of Users at the Beginning of the Period) * 100
- Retention Rate = (4,500 / 5,000) * 100 = 90%
- The retention rate for the yoga app is 90%.
Task Success:
Task success in a yoga app can be measured by evaluating users’ ability to complete specific yoga routines or exercises. Let’s assume we conducted usability tests with 15 users and found that 13 of them successfully completed their assigned yoga routines. The task success rate can be calculated as follows:
- Task Success Rate = (Number of Successful Users / Total Number of Users Tested) * 100
- Task Success Rate = (13 / 15) * 100 = 86.67%
- The task success rate for the yoga app is approximately 86.67%.
By applying the HEART framework to the yoga app, we determined that the average happiness rating is 4.3 out of 5, users have an average of 3 sessions per week with a session duration of 30 minutes, the adoption rate is 20%, the retention rate is 90%, and the task success rate is approximately 86.67%. These metrics provide valuable insights into the user experience of the yoga app and can guide improvements in order to enhance user satisfaction, engagement, adoption, retention, and task success.
